MARCOS — Marine Commandos — are India's premier special operations force, raised and operated by the Indian Navy. Regarded as one of the world's toughest commando units, MARCOS operatives undergo some of the most rigorous selection and training programmes in the world, comparable to the US Navy SEALs and British SBS.
MARCOS training includes combat diving, high-altitude operations, counter-terrorism, hostage rescue, maritime assault, and close-quarter battle (CQB). The selection process has an extremely high attrition rate — only the very best earn the right to wear the iconic MARCOS Trident badge and beret.
